Why having a family doctor matters
A family doctor knows your health history, manages ongoing conditions, keeps your screening and vaccines up to date, and refers you to specialists when you need one. Walk-in clinics are useful for same-day concerns, but a family doctor gives you continuity of care over time.
Option 1: Contact a clinic that is accepting new patients
The fastest route is often to contact clinics directly. When you call, ask whether any doctors are accepting new patients, which languages they speak, and what to bring to your first visit.

Option 2: Register with Health Care Connect
Health Care Connect is Ontario’s program that matches people with a family doctor or nurse practitioner. You can register online through the Government of Ontario website or by calling 811. You will need a valid Ontario health card, and the mailing address you give must match the one on your health card. After you register, you will receive a letter confirming your registration, and a clinician will contact you when a match is found. Registering does not guarantee that a doctor will be found right away, so it is worth contacting clinics directly as well.

- Bring your Ontario health card, a list of your current medications, and any previous medical records, or the name of your previous doctor so we can request them.
- At your first visit, your new doctor will review your health history and plan your ongoing care.
What if I need care before my first appointment?
Aafiyat Medical Centre offers same-day walk-in appointments 7 days a week. Send a WhatsApp message to 289-813-0786 and we’ll give you a time to come in, so you don’t have to wait at the clinic. Clinic hours are Monday to Friday 9 AM to 8 PM, and Saturday and Sunday 10 AM to 6 PM. For health advice outside clinic hours, call Health811 (8-1-1). For serious or urgent concerns, go to the nearest emergency department.
