Frequently Asked Questions
Is Dr. Almusawi accepting new patients?
Yes, with a referral. Your family doctor can send the referral. If you don’t have a family doctor, our walk-in doctor can provide one: WhatsApp 289-813-0786 for today’s availability.
What is a geriatrician, and when should an older adult see one?
A geriatrician is a physician who focuses on the health of older adults. A visit can help when an older adult has memory changes, falls or trouble getting around, is taking many medications, or has several health conditions that affect daily life.
What happens during a memory or cognitive assessment?
Dr. Almusawi reviews the patient’s health history, medications and daily activities, and uses questions and short tasks to check memory and thinking. A family member or caregiver who knows the patient well is encouraged to come to the appointment.
Can Dr. Almusawi review all of my parent’s medications?
Yes. Medication reviews are part of Dr. Almusawi’s practice. Please bring all current medications, including vitamins and over-the-counter products, or an up-to-date list.
What is advance care planning, and can we do it with Dr. Almusawi?
Advance care planning means talking about your values and wishes for future care, and choosing who would make health decisions for you if you could not. Dr. Almusawi can guide patients and families through goals-of-care and advance care planning conversations.
Which languages does Dr. Almusawi speak?
English and Arabic.
